Multinational Exercise Cooperation XI begins at Campo Grande Air Base with the Brazilian Air Force

With Campo Grande Air Base (BACG) in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, as its hub, the Brazilian Air Force has marked the start of the Multinational Exercise Cooperation XI. Aimed at improving regional Armed Forces’ response capability and coordination, the activity began on 16 March and will run through to 27 March.

As the images released from the multinational exercise have shown, the leading Air Forces across the Americas have sent sizeable delegations to Brazil, bringing some of their key assets-ranging from transport aircraft and helicopters to various types of drones.

Held under the umbrella of the Cooperation System among the American Air Forces (SICOFAA), operations are being carried out with a total of 18 aircraft and personnel from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, the United States, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.

Below is a brief overview of the assets deployed in Brazil:

Brazilian Air Force and Navy:

  • KC-390, C-105 Amazonas, C-98 Caravan transport aircraft, and SC-105 search-and-rescue aircraft
  • H-60 Black Hawk and UH-12 Esquilo (AS 350) helicopters
  • Hermes 900 (RQ-900) drones

Argentine Air Force:

  • Hercules C-130H TC-64 transport aircraft
  • Bell 412EP helicopter

Peruvian Air Force:

  • Leonardo C-27J Sparta tactical transport aircraft

Paraguayan Air Force:

  • Bell UH-1H helicopter
  • C208 Grand Caravan transport aircraft

Uruguayan Air Force:

  • Bell 212 helicopter
  • KC-130H Hercules

Royal Canadian Air Force:

  • Hercules CC-130
