The Afeela 1, developed through a partnership between Sony and Honda, is due to arrive in 2026. It will also be the first car to include PS Remote Play, the feature that lets you play a PS5 or PS4 remotely.
Sony and Honda are working together on a new electric-car brand called Afeela, which plans to start delivering its first production model, the Afeela 1, in California in 2026. Ahead of that launch, the two companies have shared a major announcement: the Afeela 1 will become the first vehicle to support Sony’s PS Remote Play technology. This will be built in as an in-car entertainment option, enabling remote play from a PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 using streaming.
PS Remote Play comes to the Afeela 1’s in-car entertainment
At present, PS Remote Play is available on various devices, including computers and mobile phones. However, this will be the first time the streaming technology-designed to let you play Sony’s console from a distance-has been integrated into a vehicle’s on-board entertainment features.
“The introduction of PS Remote Play embodies AFEELA’s vision for mobility: transforming the travel space into an engaging and emotional place. Through this integration, we raise the customer’s overall travel experience to an unprecedented level of entertainment,” says Izumi Kawanishi, CEO and President and COO at Sony Honda Mobility.
When you can use it, and what connection you’ll need
Drivers will be able to use it for entertainment while parked, and passengers will be able to take advantage of it on longer journeys, using the car’s screen and audio system. Even so, a broadband connection of at least 5 Mb/s will be required, and Afeela actually recommends 15 Mb/s.
In addition, you will need to own a PS5 or PS4 console at home.
A new oddity on the market
The fully electric Afeela 1 will be assembled in the United States and will sit in the saloon car category. It stands out thanks to its premium, modern design.
The Afeela 1 Signature, arriving in 2026, will start at 102,900 dollars, while the Afeela 1 Origin will cost 89,900 dollars. That latter version, however, will not arrive until 2027.

Heavy emphasis on AI and driver assistance
Beyond entertainment, Sony and Honda are also placing a strong bet on artificial intelligence. The Afeela 1 will feature a driver-assistance system and will be equipped with a suite of 40 sensors, along with computing power of 800 TOPS.
