Free and Netflix launch a Stranger Things Freebox Ultra limited edition

Free has unveiled a partnership with Netflix alongside the launch of a Freebox Ultra in Stranger Things colours. This “limited” edition is not being kept solely for the most hardcore fans.

With the fifth and final season of Stranger Things on the horizon, fans are understandably counting down the days. Free’s idea is to let you fire up Netflix on a box designed specifically around the series: the Freebox Ultra limited edition Stranger Things.

Free and Netflix join forces around Stranger Things

Born from a collaboration between Free and Netflix, the box was designed from May onwards by teams at the Paris-based operator. Free says the deal was made possible because both companies share a common DNA built around technological innovation, transparent communication with fans, and shaking up the market.

Netflix, for its part, says it chose Free because they are the only ones who design their box “from A to Z”.

Let’s be clear: it is still a Freebox Ultra, so performance remains the same. You still get Wi‑Fi 7, which is a meaningful technical advantage.

Where this edition differs is in the styling. Free highlights a full-length LED strip running across the entire device (which it describes as a genuine technical challenge), plus on-screen animations that can be personalised through the app. The visuals also lean hard into the show’s aesthetic, featuring our favourite teenagers on their bikes being chased by the Demogorgon. It may not be everyone’s idea of tasteful living-room décor, but if you’re a fan, that’s the point.

Availability, pricing and the Netflix plan included

If you are hoping to pick one up, Free says there should be enough stock to go around. The Stranger Things Freebox Ultra is available in Free’s 266 physical shops from today.

Why 4 November? Simply to line up with Stranger Things Day on 6 November-the date when, in the series, Will vanishes into the Upside Down. There is no extra charge: the box is offered at €49.99 per month for one year. Netflix is included in the subscription at no additional cost (the cheapest plan, with adverts).

Stranger Things season 5 release schedule

As a reminder, season 5 of Stranger Things will be split into three parts. The first, with four episodes, will stream on 27 November. The second (three episodes) will follow on 26 December. Finally, the grand finale will arrive on 1 January 2026.

Netflix clearly intends to turn this final season into a global event. That means episodes released in dribs and drabs, as well as local commercial tie-ins-such as this one with Free.
