An enhanced challenger to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7

Oppo has officially unveiled the Find N6 foldable smartphone. The company says the new model sets a fresh benchmark for foldable devices thanks to a reworked hinge, stronger body protection and an upgraded camera system. Sales begin on 20 March, with prices starting at 9,999 yuan (US$1,450).

Build, hinge and protection

The headline engineering change is the second-generation Titanium Flexion hinge. Oppo has made it 11% wider and refined the fold so the display bends more smoothly when closed, with the aim of reducing panel wear over time.

The inner screen is now covered by Flex Glass with self-smoothing. Oppo claims this layer is 50% thicker than before, restores its shape twice as effectively, and is 338% more resistant to deformation than the previous generation. Oppo also states the handset is TÜV Rheinland certified for 600,000 folds.

Alongside the hinge, the enclosure protection has been improved. The Find N6 is rated to IP56, IP58 and IP59, meaning it is now better protected not only from water, but also from dust getting inside the device.

Performance, battery and displays

The Find N6 is built around the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 SoC. Battery capacity has risen from 5600 mAh in the predecessor to 6000 mAh. Charging support includes 80 W SuperVOOC wired charging and 50 W AirVOOC wireless charging.

Display sizes are broadly unchanged, but peak brightness has increased. The outer display measures 6.62 inches, runs at 120 Hz, and has a resolution of 2616 × 1140 pixels. Inside, there is an 8.12-inch 120 Hz panel with a resolution of 2480 × 2248 pixels. Both screens offer 10-bit colour and Dolby Vision.

For brightness, Oppo quotes up to 3600 cd/m² on the outer display and up to 2500 cd/m² on the inner panel.

Cameras, Android 16 and updates

Oppo has also refreshed the Hasselblad-branded main camera module. The primary camera now uses a 200 MP sensor with a 1/1.56-inch optical format (Samsung ISOCELL HP5), paired with a 21 mm equivalent lens.

A True Color sensor-first introduced in the Find X9 series-has been added as well, intended to deliver more accurate white balance and more natural colour reproduction.

The telephoto camera keeps the 50 MP ISOCELL JN5 sensor with a 1/2.75-inch optical format, but switches to a 70 mm f/2.7 lens. The ultra-wide camera has been improved too: it is now a 50 MP module using the same JN5 sensor, combined with a new 15 mm f/2.0 lens and autofocus. New 20 MP front-facing cameras are fitted on both displays.

Out of the box, the Oppo Find N6 runs Android 16 with ColorOS 16. Oppo promises 5 years of Android updates and 6 years of security updates.
