DroneShow 2026 in São Paulo: XMobots presents the SARP Nauru family
At DroneShow 2026, held in São Paulo, Zona Militar visited the XMobots stand, where the company introduced its Nauru family of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (SARP). Built to meet requirements across defence, public security and strategic monitoring, the range highlights how far Brazil’s industry has progressed in the Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Target Acquisition (ISTAR) segment, bringing together solutions able to cover everything from short-range tactical tasks to long-endurance operations with a high degree of complexity.
During the briefing, XMobots representatives explained the thinking behind the Nauru family, which was designed to deliver scalable, interoperable platforms that share a common operational, logistics, and command-and-control architecture. The aim is to make operator training more straightforward, lower support costs, and increase flexibility across different operational settings-so different users can select solutions suited to their needs without giving up standardisation.
Nauru 100D: compact eVTOL for tactical surveillance and reconnaissance
The smallest system on display was the Nauru 100D, an eVTOL platform intended for tactical surveillance, reconnaissance and monitoring of areas of interest. The system can be carried by just two operators, assembled quickly in the field, and provides endurance of up to two hours, with an operational range of 20 to 30 kilometres.
Its vertical take-off and landing capability removes the need for runways or prepared areas, greatly expanding how it can be used in urban environments, remote locations and hard-to-reach regions. Among the features highlighted by the company were straightforward field assembly and a high level of modularity, enabling fast component swaps and simplified repairs even under operational conditions. XMobots also emphasised battery changes in less than one minute, cutting the time required to get back into the mission.
XMobots further noted that the Nauru 100D has recently completed its development and testing cycle, confirming its operational performance and demonstrating the platform’s maturity. According to the company, the system is already attracting interest from public security bodies and armed forces, which are assessing adoption for various uses-from surveillance and monitoring through to tactical reconnaissance operations.
Nauru 500C ISR: hybrid endurance with petrol logistics
In the mid-range segment, the company presented the Nauru 500C ISR, a hybrid platform that uses electric motors for vertical take-off and landing, while cruise flight is handled by a combustion engine running on standard petrol. Using this fuel is intended to reduce operating costs and make refuelling logistics easier-an important consideration for missions conducted far from major urban centres.
Based on the information provided by XMobots, the system offers around four hours of endurance and an operational range of up to 60 kilometres, supporting persistent surveillance missions, border monitoring, protection of critical infrastructure and assistance to public security operations. Beyond its ISTAR role, the platform can also be fitted with systems for releasing explosive devices, adding an offensive capability and significantly widening how it can be employed in modern military scenarios. This mix of endurance, logistical flexibility and strike potential makes the Nauru 500C ISR a versatile option for missions that demand not only the detection and tracking of targets, but also an ability to respond immediately when required.
Nauru 1000: long-endurance ISTAR and precision-strike growth
The main highlight of the presentation was the Nauru 1000, developed for more complex, long-duration strategic missions. The platform pairs electric motors for vertical take-off and landing with a combustion engine powered by aviation fuel (AvGas) during cruise.
According to the figures shown at DroneShow 2026, the Nauru 1000 can remain on task for roughly 12 hours and operate at distances greater than 100 kilometres, positioning it for wide-area surveillance, strategic reconnaissance, border monitoring and extended tracking of targets of interest.
In addition to long-range ISTAR functions, the platform was designed to carry different payloads, including systems for releasing explosive devices. The company also disclosed that tests have already been carried out involving the integration of anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM), illustrating the aircraft’s potential for precision-attack missions and for supporting higher-complexity military operations.
Command and control, electronic protection and modular deployment
One differentiator underlined by XMobots is the robust command-and-control infrastructure associated with the Nauru family. The aircraft can be operated via mobile stations made up of dedicated consoles, computers and communications links, allowing real-time monitoring of both flight parameters and the imagery produced by onboard sensors.
Depending on the mission profile, tasks can be split between operators-one responsible for flying the aircraft and another focused exclusively on sensor operation and analysis of collected information. These stations can be installed in vehicles, vans, containers or specially configured mobile structures intended for sustained operations.
Anti-jamming, safety modes and recovery procedures
On the electronic protection side, the company pointed to a range of features incorporated across the Nauru platforms. The systems continuously track navigation parameters, terrain profile and flight conditions, automatically executing safety procedures when needed.
Capabilities described include an anti-jamming system able to detect electronic interference attempts, warn operators and automatically shift frequencies to preserve the command-and-control link. In critical situations, the systems can also trigger automatic return-to-base modes and emergency recovery procedures intended to safeguard the aircraft.
Another important point presented during DroneShow was the modularity of the Nauru family’s operational concept. Alongside portable stations, XMobots offers vehicle-, van- and specialised-container-based solutions that effectively turn them into mobile command-and-control centres. This substantially increases operator mobility and supports use in long-duration operations and remote environments.
The growing interest shown by military forces, public security bodies and government institutions in the Nauru family platforms reflects the level of maturity reached by Brazil’s unmanned-systems industry. In today’s operating environment-where real-time information has become a decisive factor for mission success-XMobots is seeking to establish its solutions as national alternatives capable of meeting the highest defence and security requirements.
The completion of the Nauru 100D’s development, alongside progress on the Nauru 500C ISR and Nauru 1000 programmes, points to the company’s commitment to building national solutions that can reduce external dependencies and expand Brazilian technological autonomy in a segment that is increasingly strategic for defence and security.
Soon, Zona Militar will visit XMobots’ facilities to see up close the development and manufacturing process for its remotely piloted aircraft, as well as to observe operational demonstrations of its solutions-enabling an even deeper assessment of the capabilities being developed by Brazil’s defence and technology industry.
