Samsung unveils the Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57, its new mid-range smartphones

Samsung has made the Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57 official, unveiling two new mid-range smartphones. With these devices, the brand is aiming to deliver a strong look and a solid specification sheet, despite their position in the line-up. After being overtaken by Apple in 2025, Samsung may rely in part on its more affordable handsets to try to reclaim the top spot in 2026.

Samsung’s most recent innovations are concentrated in the Galaxy S26 Ultra, sold for €1,669. However, the company also caters for buyers who want something less expensive, with mid-range options. For 2026, Samsung’s offering in this category includes the new Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57. Pricing starts at €449 for the Galaxy A37 and €549 for the Galaxy A57. The approach remains familiar: with these new Galaxy A models, Samsung is trying to combine an attractive design with capable hardware and a phone that should meet the needs of most users.

What’s hidden under the bonnet of these affordable Samsung phones?

Whether you go for the Galaxy A37 or the Galaxy A57, you get a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a high refresh rate (120 Hz) and a 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution. Both smartphones also feature a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 5-megapixel macro sensor. The Galaxy A57 does have a small advantage here, as it uses a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera, compared with 8 megapixels on the Galaxy A37.

Performance is where the biggest difference sits between the Galaxy A37 and the Galaxy A57. The first runs on an Exynos 1480 chip, while the second uses the Exynos 1680. Both are Samsung chips built for the mid-range, but the one inside the Galaxy A57 is the more powerful option. In addition, while the Galaxy A37 is sold with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM, the Galaxy A57 comes with 12 GB of RAM.

On both models, Samsung includes a 5,000 mAh battery and 45 W fast charging, which is a respectable setup.

In terms of design, the Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57 borrow cues from Samsung’s premium models. The rear camera module, in particular, is reminiscent of what you see on the Galaxy S26. On the Galaxy A57, Samsung also offers a metal frame and a glass back.

On the Galaxy A37, by contrast, the manufacturer makes more compromises by opting for a plastic build. Even so, both smartphones come with IP68-rated water and dust resistance.

Software: one of Samsung’s strongest points

In the highly competitive mid-range smartphone market, Samsung wants to set itself apart from rival products through software. The Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57 come with a set of AI-based features (separate from the Galaxy AI features found on the high-end devices).

These phones ship with One UI 8.5, based on Android 16. The Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57 will also receive operating system updates and security updates for six years. In other words, they are mid-range devices that users can keep with confidence for a very long time.

While the press talks more often about flagship devices, mid-range and entry-level smartphones are just as important to Samsung. In fact, 2026 will be a pivotal year for the company, given that it was overtaken by Apple in 2025.
