Anyone who enjoys taking photos on their phone now has another chance to turn everyday snaps into national recognition. With millions of images captured on smartphones every single day, mobile photography has become one of today’s leading forms of visual expression-whether on trips, at events, in landscapes, or in ordinary day-to-day scenes.
With that world in mind, OPPO has announced the OPPO LUMO Photography Award 2026, a global initiative designed to champion photography made on smartphones and to uncover new image-making talent. Under the theme “Super (Every) Moments”, the award is now being run officially in Brazil, inviting people to create different visual narratives using the brand’s devices.
The idea is to encourage amateur photographers, content creators and mobile-photo enthusiasts to find fresh angles through smartphone cameras. Entries remain open until 31 December 2026.
Citing research from the international platform Photutorial, the company says around 94% of photos made today are taken on smartphones. The estimate also puts the daily volume at roughly 5.3 billion images captured worldwide.
Categories include travel and landscapes
The Brazilian edition of the award will feature six categories. One of them is Super Journey, aimed at travel, culture and landscape images-a theme that often appeals to photographers who use their phones to document experiences while travelling across Brazil and abroad.
Also included are Super Me, focused on portraits and identity; Super Snap, for candid moments; Super Live, for images created using the Motion Photo feature; Super Zoom, for long-distance photography; and Super Video, dedicated to audiovisual work produced with OPPO smartphones.
All submitted images must be shot on OPPO devices and retain their original capture data. Entries will be judged on criteria including creativity, composition, technique and storytelling ability. Winners will be announced on 15 February 2027.
Prize money reaches R$ 10,000
For 2026, Brazilian participants will compete for cash prizes. First place will receive R$ 10,000, while second and third place will be awarded R$ 5,000 and R$ 3,000 respectively.
“The award reinforces our commitment to encouraging creative expression through technology. We want to inspire people to see the extraordinary in everyday life and to show how mobile photography has become a powerful tool for storytelling and connection,” says Mariana Passos, Senior Communications Manager at OPPO Brazil.
Entries can be submitted via the official OPPO Photography Award 2026 platform.
Monthly challenge highlights Brazilian culture
Alongside the main award, the company is also running the ShotonOPPO 2026 contest via Instagram.
The initiative asks users to post photographs inspired by themes set each month. In June, the challenge theme is “Brazilian spirit with OPPO”, encouraging people to capture Brazilian cultural expressions, traditions and celebrations using the brand’s smartphones.
To take part, users must post the image on their profile, include the hashtag #ShotonOPPO, tag the company’s official account, and keep the watermark from the device used to take the photo.
At the end of the June round, scheduled for the 27th, five participants will receive OPPO Enco Buds2 Pro earphones. The company adds that new themes and prizes will be announced throughout the year via its official channels.
