A new mid-range tier from Samsung

After a long run of widespread leaks, Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 officially today. The two phones stick closely to the look and feel of their predecessors, but arrive with upgraded build materials, new platforms and added AI features. Camera changes are minor. Sales begin on 10 April, although pricing has not yet been announced.

Samsung Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37: performance, build and durability

The Samsung Galaxy A57 is powered by the 4 nm Exynos 1680 system-on-chip and features a vapour chamber that is 13% larger, designed to improve cooling. It also moves to a metal frame and comes with IP68 protection (up from IP67 on the Galaxy A56).

Galaxy A37, meanwhile, is based on the Exynos 1480 SoC (the same as in the Galaxy A55). Unlike the A57, it uses a plastic side frame. The Galaxy A37 is 6.9 mm thick and weighs 179 grams, while the Galaxy A57 measures 7.4 mm and 196 grams. The smaller model also carries an IP68 rating.

Display and battery

Both models use 6.7-inch Super AMOLED displays with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Battery capacity is 5000 mAh on each handset, with 45 W wired charging. Samsung says the battery reaches 60% in half an hour.

Cameras

Each phone includes a 50 MP main camera, alongside a 12 MP front-facing camera. The key difference is the ultra-wide module: the Galaxy A57 uses a 12 MP sensor, whereas the Galaxy A37 drops to 8 MP. In both devices, the third camera is a 5 MP macro unit.

One UI 8.5, Android 16 and AI features on Galaxy A57

The Galaxy A57 gains several AI tools, including expanded Best Face processing, Auto Trim for automatic video clipping, an improved Object Eraser, and voice recording transcription. Both smartphones run One UI 8.5 on Android 16 and are set to receive updates for 6 years.
