One of the North Zone’s most recognisable churches is being transformed into a vast canvas for an immersive audiovisual experience. Basílica Sant’Ana is hosting Alluz – The Search for Light, a production that uses 360° projection mapping, surround sound and a sensory-driven storyline to fill the century-old building’s walls, dome, stained-glass windows and columns.

Created by visual artist Spetto - an internationally award-winning VJ - the piece runs for 30 minutes and traces humanity’s relationship with light.

Rather than simply watching something on a screen, the real appeal is seeing how the technology “talks” to the basilica’s own 1896 features. Because the animations are precisely aligned with the geometry of the interior, even switching seats in the nave delivers a completely different visual perspective.
The seven-act journey: from Creation to the masters of painting
The experience is structured into seven acts: it opens in the darkness of Creation, moves through the discovery of fire, travels among the stars, examines faith inside cathedrals, passes through the scientific theories of Newton and Einstein, and arrives at the work of painters such as Caravaggio and Van Gogh.
Production and projectors
The show is produced by Hit Makers (the same company behind major displays such as The Art of Banksy and the Frida Kahlo exhibition) in partnership with Ponto Mídia, ensuring high-performance projectors capable of covering the entire historic space of Santana.
