Mozilla Firefox makes its free integrated VPN unlimited this summer, with 28 countries

Mozilla Firefox is rolling out a free VPN built directly into its browser. This summer, the built-in VPN will become unlimited, while still letting users choose from 28 countries.

A free Firefox VPN built into the browser

To stay competitive with Google Chrome and other browsers (including those geared towards artificial intelligence), Mozilla Firefox is leaning heavily on privacy and distinctive features. One of its 2026 additions is a free VPN that sits inside Firefox itself.

The feature is already available in a handful of countries, including France, but it normally comes with a 50 GB monthly cap. For the summer period, Mozilla is removing that limit, meaning Firefox users will be able to use the VPN without restriction and without paying.

Unlimited access through 31 August

This timely offer starts now and runs until 31 August. Mozilla’s aim is to give people a simple, free way to secure their connection while travelling over the summer-particularly when they need to join public Wi‑Fi networks in airports, restaurants, and similar places.

“When you travel, public Wi‑Fi is often part of the deal. But these networks can make it easier for third parties to spy on your traffic and see the websites you visit. The VPN built into Firefox strengthens your privacy protection by masking your IP address, which makes it harder for other users on the network who might want to monitor your browsing activity,” the foundation explains.

You can also switch country (28 locations)

Alongside offering a free way to protect a connection on public Wi‑Fi, Mozilla also allows Firefox VPN users to change their country. This summer, Firefox users will be able to replace their real location with any of the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Norway, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

If a user is on the move, this can, for instance, help them browse as though they were back at home. And if certain websites do not work properly when a VPN is enabled, the feature also includes an exception list, so connections to sites on that list do not go through the VPN.
