DroneShow 2026: Modirum GESPI showcases SISU AI in São Paulo

At DroneShow 2026 in São Paulo, Zona Militar’s correspondent in Brazil, Angelo Nicolaci, visited the Modirum GESPI stand to take a closer look at the company’s latest uncrewed aerial system solutions aimed at reconnaissance tasks, precision strike, and use as loitering munitions.

In today’s evolving conflicts, attack drones and loitering munitions have increasingly become central to modern military operations. By merging surveillance, target identification and strike functions into a single platform, these systems shorten the time from detection to engagement, improve accuracy and help limit troops’ exposure.

Modirum GESPI at DroneShow 2026: the SISU AI ecosystem

Against that backdrop, Modirum GESPI showcased a family of solutions built around the SISU AI architecture, bringing together aerial platforms, sensors, advanced software and multiple payload options to meet the needs of contemporary battlefields.

The company also emphasised that its in-house capability to design, manufacture and integrate all critical components provides full control over platform development and technological evolution. In addition, SISU AI™ modules and the payloads developed by the firm can be supplied separately for integration into existing systems.

Vectron M UAS: autonomy, swarming and GNSS-denied navigation

One of the headline systems on display was the Vectron M, a defence-oriented Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) designed to operate in complex, highly contested environments.

By incorporating the SISU AI technology architecture, the platform is built for a high degree of autonomy and the ability to adapt to changing operational conditions. A key differentiator is its capacity to function in GNSS-denied scenarios, maintaining navigation even under electronic interference or spoofing attempts against satellite-based positioning.

Vectron M also features drone swarming functionality, enabling multiple aircraft to work in a coordinated manner, share information and carry out cooperative missions autonomously. This is presented as a strategic capability as distributed operations expand and uncrewed systems are increasingly used to saturate defences.

Planned missions for the system include Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), target acquisition and tracking, precision strikes, and Battle Damage Assessment (BDA), with real-time video transmission used to assess the effects of an engagement.

DART loitering munition: rapid deployment with a HEAT payload

Another notable exhibit was DART, a loitering munition developed to deliver mobility, fast employment and high destructive effect against armoured targets.

The system is carried in a compact launch tube, allowing small teams to deploy it quickly in operational settings. After launch, its wings and control surfaces automatically unfold in flight, and it begins navigating towards the area of interest.

Powered by electric propulsion, DART carries a HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) payload, engineered specifically to neutralise armoured vehicles, main battle tanks, fortified positions and other high-value targets.

This positions DART as a contemporary anti-tank option, combining the persistence associated with loitering munitions and the destructive power required to counter armoured threats on the battlefield. The concept enables an operator to detect, verify and strike a target with greater accuracy, reducing the risk of wasting munitions and increasing the likelihood of neutralisation.

The system also supports switching between autonomous flight and manual control at any stage of the mission, including during the final moments of the terminal dive onto the target. Advanced communications features, procedures for signal loss and a mission-abort function round out the set of operational capabilities.

Mk3 “Sargento” FPV: short-range reconnaissance and precision attack

Modirum GESPI additionally introduced the Mk3 “Sargento”, an FPV (First Person View) platform intended for short-range missions.

With an operational range of up to 30 kilometres, it was designed for reconnaissance, target acquisition and precision attack. Its concept aligns with trends seen in recent conflicts, where FPV drones have taken on a central role in tactical operations due to their low acquisition cost and strong effectiveness against a variety of threats.

The platform is positioned as a flexible solution for units seeking to rapidly expand their ability to observe and engage across the battlefield.

Loitering Munitions: an increasingly relevant capability

The rise of loitering munitions is among the most striking trends seen in conflicts over recent decades. These systems combine aspects of reconnaissance drones and precision-guided weapons, enabling them to remain over an area of interest until a suitable target is identified for engagement.

By bringing together persistence, precision and operational flexibility, loitering munitions have been reshaping how armed forces plan and conduct offensive missions, offering an efficient alternative that sits between conventional drones and traditional missile systems.

The solutions presented by Modirum GESPI at DroneShow 2026 illustrate how the defence industry continues to invest in technologies that expand autonomy, decision-making capacity and the accuracy of uncrewed systems in line with the demands of modern combat environments.
