Sony has just added a brand-new product to its PlayStation line-up with the 27″ Gaming Monitor, a display positioned as the ideal partner for getting the most out of the PS5’s visual and technical capabilities (and more besides).
During its recent Japan-flavoured State of Play, Sony not only confirmed a cheaper PS5 Digital Edition-restricted to the Japanese market (much like Nintendo’s Switch 2)-but also introduced fresh hardware: a gaming monitor designed specifically with the PS5 in mind.

Sony’s PlayStation 27″ Gaming Monitor
Following the Pulse Elevate speakers revealed a few weeks ago, Sony is continuing to expand its PlayStation accessory range. The latest addition is a somewhat surprising 27″ monitor, capable of displaying a QHD image-2560 × 1440 pixels-with HDR support.
QHD, HDR and refresh rates built for gaming
On paper, the screen is clearly aimed at players: Sony is pitching it as the perfect companion to showcase the PS5 at its best, and as a technology showpiece for new-generation titles.
The monitor’s refresh rate can climb as high as 240 Hz, although console play on PS5 is capped at 120 Hz. Sony’s promise is straightforward: a more fluid, more responsive, and more faithful image for anyone chasing a more immersive experience.

Ports, DualSense charging dock and built-in audio
One of the more distinctive touches is the built-in DualSense charging dock. You can attach the DualSense controller to the bottom of the monitor using a dedicated mount, and it will automatically recharge-an undeniably handy idea.
In terms of connectivity, the monitor includes two HDMI 2.1 inputs plus a DisplayPort connection. You also get two USB-A ports and one USB-C port. As expected, there is no PS5 built into the display-unlike the PS2 era, when a Bravia television model integrated the console.
Audio is handled directly by the monitor as well, thanks to an integrated stereo speaker system, along with a 3.5 mm jack for quieter play.
Release window and the growing PlayStation accessory line-up
For now, the PlayStation 27″ Gaming Monitor is only expected in Japan and the United States, with no specific launch date beyond a vague “2026”.
In recent years, Sony has broadened its PlayStation hardware catalogue with various accessories intended to “optimise” gaming. Players can already find the Pulse Elite headset and the Pulse Explore earbuds, and the Pulse Elevate speakers are also on the way-along with the monitor discussed here-sometime next year.
