Google has just rolled out Nano Banana Pro, a heavily upgraded take on Gemini’s image generator.
After releasing Gemini 3 for text, Google has now introduced a new image-generation tool called Nano Banana Pro. As the name suggests, it is an enhanced version of Nano Banana. While Nano Banana’s image creation and editing performance was already impressive, Nano Banana Pro pushes things further. Google says Nano Banana Pro draws on the reasoning abilities of the new Gemini 3 Pro model, along with its broad general knowledge, to produce images that look even more convincing.
Nano Banana Pro upgrades for the Gemini image generator
Beyond producing attractive images, Nano Banana Pro is also particularly strong at creating infographics - useful, for instance, when building educational content. It can also pull information from Google Search to generate explanatory visuals about a given topic.
Nano Banana Pro additionally produces better mock-ups and layouts, because the AI is more capable when generating images that include text.
Another improvement with Nano Banana Pro is stronger consistency in preserving the appearance of objects that need to be inserted into a creation.
Studio-style creative control plus 2K and 4K output
Google also claims that Nano Banana Pro gives users “studio-like” creative control. “Select, refine and transform any part of an image with improved localised editing tools. Adjust camera angles, change focus and apply sophisticated colour grading, or even transform the lighting of a scene (for example, switching from day to night or creating a bokeh effect)”, Google explains.
It will also be possible to generate content at 2K or 4K resolution.
How do you enable Nano Banana Pro in Gemini?
In practice, Nano Banana Pro should significantly expand the professional use cases for Gemini’s image generator. The good news is that you do not even need a paid subscription to use it.
In the Gemini app, you simply choose the image creation option and select the Thinking (Reasoning) model to use this new version of the image generator. Google does note, however, that once the quota is exceeded on the free tier, the user is redirected to the non‑Pro version of Nano Banana. To access higher quotas, you need a Google AI Plus, Pro or Ultra subscription.
Nano Banana Pro is also available in other Google products, including NotebookLM, Google Ads and the Flow creation tool.
