Presentation expected in April
Ice Universe has shared sample shots from the Oppo Find X9 Ultra camera, which is set to feature a new Hasselblad 10x optical telephoto lens.
Oppo Find X9 Ultra zoom capabilities (10x / 20x / 120x)
To recap, the system is said to support built-in 10x optical zoom, 20x “optical-quality” zoom, and up to 120x digital zoom. Zhuo Shijie, who leads the Find series, describes this as a technical breakthrough. He points out that while smartphone makers have steadily improved zoom over the years, achieving a true 10x optical setup in a thin, lightweight handset has previously been close to impossible.
Periscope design and five-reflection architecture (460 mm equivalent)
To make this happen, the company is using a new periscope-style design built on what it calls a five-reflection architecture. Oppo says this approach delivers a 460 mm equivalent focal length while still keeping the phone’s body comparatively slim.
Ice Universe track record and sources
Ice Universe was the first to accurately report the emerging trend for waterfall-display phones, the notch on the iPhone X, the updated iPhone 14 design, and Samsung’s 200-megapixel image sensor. The leaker’s exclusive details are said to come from sources within the South Korean giant’s research and development department.
