Copa Airlines announced on Monday (6) that it is adding Starlink satellite internet across its fleet, making it the first airline in Latin America to provide high-speed Wi‑Fi connectivity on board its aircraft.

Copa Airlines begins Starlink satellite internet rollout

The airline said the first Boeing 737 fitted with the technology operated its inaugural flight on 4 July 2026, marking the start of a phased deployment across the fleet. The company expects the installation programme to be completed by the first quarter of 2027.

High-speed Wi‑Fi on board: streaming, work and messaging

With the new connectivity solution, passengers will be able to use high-speed internet throughout the flight for activities such as watching live sports broadcasts, streaming films and series, using cloud-based business applications, browsing the web in real time, playing online games and sending messages without interruptions.

Free access for ConnectMiles tiers, Business Class and Starlink customers

Copa Airlines stated that free Wi‑Fi access will be available to PreferMember customers in the Gold, Platinum and Presidential tiers of its ConnectMiles programme, as well as passengers travelling in Business Class on aircraft already equipped with the system.

Customers on Starlink Residential and Starlink Roam plans will also be able to use the service at no additional cost on flights operated by compatible aircraft.

For all other passengers, internet access can be purchased directly via the on-board Starlink portal. According to Copa Airlines, the service will be offered at affordable prices, enabling more customers to stay connected throughout their journey.

The airline added that adopting the technology strengthens its strategy to expand passenger connectivity, building on the role of the Hub of the Americas in Panama City as the company’s main connections centre and extending that experience into its flights as well.
