For just a few days, you can pick up the Retroid Pocket 5 handheld console at a heavily reduced price on AliExpress.

AliExpress’s anniversary sale only wrapped up this Wednesday, but the retailer has followed it up with another deal event starting on Thursday, called “Milestone Days”.

AliExpress deal: Retroid Pocket 5 for 192 euros (black only)

Until Saturday 28 March in the evening, the Retroid Pocket 5 is available for 192 euros when you use code FRBD25, exclusively in the black colourway. Other colours are discounted too, but cost a little more (209 euros).

That works out as a saving of several tens of euros-provided you don’t hang about. AliExpress also highlights reassuring terms attached to the order: fast, free delivery from a warehouse based in France, with VAT included in the displayed price.

You also get the official two-year warranty, and you can spread the cost over 4 interest-free instalments via PayPal. And if it doesn’t live up to what you expected, you have 15 days to return it for a refund.

Why is everyone after it?

For video game enthusiasts, the Retroid Pocket 5 is an essential buy. It carries a 4.9/5 rating across more than 2,000 sales, which speaks volumes. Its real strength is flexibility: it lets you revisit the games you grew up with because it can emulate dozens of systems-PS2, GameCube, N64, Dreamcast, PSP, and even the Game Boy Color, among others.

That means you can replay Final Fantasy X via PS2 emulation, tackle the tracks of Mario Kart Double Dash on GameCube, or jump back into Zelda: A Link to the Past on the legendary SNES-the list goes on, as the gaming back catalogue is huge. Put simply, it’s a handheld that shines when it comes to emulation. One important reminder, though: to stay on the right side of the law, you need to own the games you’re playing. Otherwise, it’s piracy and a breach of copyright. Consider that officially stated.

Retroid Pocket 5: Android 13, apps, and cloud gaming

The Retroid Pocket 5 goes beyond retro gaming. It runs Android 13, which means you can download any games available on the Play Store, as well as apps such as YouTube, Netflix, Chrome, Disney+, and more. And as if that still weren’t enough, cloud gaming is included too through platforms like Xbox Game Pass, GeForce Now, or Steam Link. It’s hard to beat for all-round versatility.

Performance, display and controls

On the performance front, the Retroid Pocket 5 is built around the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage (expandable via microSD). It’s a robust setup designed to handle emulation comfortably, while also running more demanding titles without any sign of slow-down.

Its 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED screen delivers vivid colours and punchy contrast, helping fine detail stand out-particularly in darker scenes. For controls, you get Hall-effect analogue sticks, action buttons, L2/R2 triggers that sit naturally under your index fingers, and a D-pad that remains a must-have for 2D games.

Battery life and connectivity

Battery life is rated at up to 8 hours in the best-case scenario, though it can be significantly less depending on how you use it. Elsewhere, the Retroid Pocket 5 supports Wi‑Fi 6 and Bluetooth, and includes a 3.5 mm combo audio jack plus a USB Type‑C port for charging (DisplayPort compatible in 1080p/60fp) or for connecting to a TV (via an adaptor) or an external display.

The code runs out in under 72h and, given how quickly it’s selling, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it go out of stock before then. If you prefer a clamshell design, the Pocket Flip 2 is also available at a very good price.
