Greenvolt Power announces new agreement with BYD Energy Storage for 600 MW Siedlce battery project in Poland

Greenvolt Power, a company within the Greenvolt Group, announced on Wednesday that it has entered into a new agreement with China’s BYD Energy Storage to build a battery energy storage system as part of the Siedlce project in Poland.

With planned capacity of 600 megawatts (MW) (2.4 gigawatt-hours – GWh), Greenvolt says in a statement that this will be Poland’s largest battery park and one of the biggest in Europe.

Timeline and revenues through Poland’s capacity market

With revenues secured via Poland’s capacity market, the Siedlce project is expected to move into its construction phase in the third quarter of 2026, with commercial operation scheduled to begin by the end of 2027, the energy company adds.

BYD Haohan technology supplied by BYD Energy Storage

Part of the global BYD conglomerate, BYD Energy Storage was founded in 1995 in the city of Shenzhen and specialises in batteries, electric mobility and renewable energy storage solutions. For Greenvolt’s new project in Poland, the Chinese company will supply its latest-generation battery energy storage technology, BYD Haohan.

Existing Greenvolt–BYD cooperation in the Polish market

The new agreement further strengthens the collaboration the two companies already have in Poland. In March 2025, Greenvolt and BYD signed agreements to supply storage technology for the Turośń Kościelna (200 MW / 800 MWh) and Nowa Wieś Ełcka (200 MW / 800 MWh) projects, which together account for combined capacity of up to 1.6 GWh.

“Batteries are a fundamental element for more resilient and flexible energy systems, and they play a decisive role in integrating renewable energy,” argues João Manso Neto, CEO of the Greenvolt Group, adding that the company “has built a relevant pipeline in this segment – one of the most dynamic in the energy market – and is developing some of Europe’s largest storage projects”.

Weronika Nowak, CEO of Greenvolt Power, says that “the Siedlce project reflects the company’s ambition for Poland and for the energy storage business”. Within Greenvolt, Poland plays a strategic role: the company currently has a pipeline in the country of 238 MW in wind projects, 657 MW in solar projects and 2,595 MW in energy storage projects, forming part of the global 12.8 GW portfolio. The Polish market also sits at the heart of the Group’s asset rotation strategy, which reached 1 GW of assets sold in 2025.

For his part, Yin Xueqin, general manager of BYD Energy Storage, said in the statement that “the Siedlce project represents an important milestone in cooperation with Greenvolt Power”, with the “choice of BYD Energy Storage for a project of this scale reflecting confidence in the technology and experience” of the Chinese company.
