Oppo has unveiled its latest premium smartphone: the Oppo Find X9 Ultra. With this handset, the Chinese brand intends to leave its rivals behind.

At the end of 2025, Oppo impressed us greatly with the Oppo Find X9 Pro, a smartphone that had everything going for it and ranked among the best in its category. How can it improve on that? With the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, the Chinese manufacturer is aiming not only to win people over with a formidable specification sheet, but also to deliver the best camera phone on the market.

In design terms, Oppo has opted for a unibody aluminium frame and a vegan leather back (a polite way of saying leather-effect plastic). Its appearance is designed to stand apart from competing devices, with two clearly separate sections that bring a camera to mind. The handset comes in black or orange, a colour that is undeniably very fashionable at the moment. Along its edges is an extra button for taking photos, as found on the iPhone and Honor Magic8 Pro. It carries IP68 and IP69 certification, making it resistant to water and dust. For those who want one, Oppo also sells a case with an additional battery, along with a 300 mm lens that attaches to the ring surrounding the camera module.

Oppo Find X9 Ultra: cutting-edge specifications

When it comes to specifications, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra offers the very best currently available. It features a large 6.8-inch OLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and a 7050 mAh battery. That should deliver phenomenal battery life. It also supports 100 W fast charging and 50 W wireless charging. Put simply, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra is a beast.

A camera phone designed to challenge the competition

However, photography is where the handset is looking to make its biggest impact. Competition in the camera phone market is fierce, with formidable opponents including Honor, Samsung and Xiaomi. Oppo is relying on its partnership with Hasselblad to make its case. The X9 Ultra includes a camera array with a 200-megapixel wide-angle sensor, supported by an equally high-resolution 200-megapixel telephoto sensor (x3). This pair is joined by an ultra-wide-angle unit and another telephoto sensor (x10), both offering 50 megapixels. The Find X9 Ultra makes ambitious promises regarding image processing, which we will of course assess in our review.

Android 16 and Color OS 16

Finally, it is worth noting that the handset runs Android 16 with the Color OS 16 interface. The latter brings several refinements, including minimalist notifications and more sophisticated AI. There is currently no pricing or release date for the Oppo Find X9 Ultra.

Presse-citron’s analysis

On paper, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra looks close to being the perfect phone, an impression strengthened by the excellence of its predecessor, the Find X9 Pro. Oppo is clearly seeking a position in the luxury smartphone segment, alongside the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Honor Magic8 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro. While each of these devices has its photographic strengths, the X9 Ultra could leave the competition behind with its pair of 200-megapixel sensors. Its huge battery could further complete this promising picture. Naturally, specifications alone do not tell the whole story, and our review will have to establish whether these promises are fulfilled.
