According to Android Authority, Google may offer Android users specialised AI agents powered by Gemini. These agents would act as experts in specific areas, including household organisation, expense management and arranging outings with friends.
Android Authority reports that Google could bring a powerful Gemini-based productivity feature to Android smartphone users. After examining the APK file from a version of the Google app, the publication reportedly uncovered references to a new feature that would let people create AI agents. Essentially, these would be versions of Gemini tailored to particular tasks.
Gemini AI agents for everyday tasks
Google could help users save time by allowing them to hand complex tasks to five different kinds of agent: a “family coordinator” AI agent to help the user plan household chores, coordinate tasks or share events with their family; a “tutor” AI agent focused on learning; a “group organiser” agent that could arrange outings; a “marketing agent” for social media posts, newsletters and more; and a financial agent that could, for instance, help the user monitor their spending.
A feature that could be available to everyone
For now, caution is required, as Google has not made any announcement. However, as Android Authority points out, users of Google Workspace and Enterprise productivity offerings can already create custom AI agents on the web to automate tasks with Gemini.
Gemini on Android may not be limited to Workspace users
Since the newly discovered Android feature appears to differ slightly, Android Authority believes it may not be restricted to Google Workspace and Enterprise users. It could even be made available to people using the free version of Gemini. At present, though, these are only assumptions, and nothing has been confirmed.
In any case, these specialised agents could help Google make its Gemini AI even more popular with the general public, especially as it already benefits greatly from its integration with the Android operating system.
